Gustavus Day at the CapitolMarch 12, 2024

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024 students and financial aid supporters from Gustavus Adolphus College will have the opportunity to gather at the state Capitol to thank legislators for the impact they have had on students, as a part of Gustavus Day at the Capitol.

The Minnesota State Grant program supports nearly 40% of Gustavus students. Many students receive state grants and all Gustavus students benefit from the Minnesota State Grant Program because State Grant money frees up financial aid to be used for other students.

Day at the Capitol allows students to learn how to become effective advocates while urging state legislators to support Minnesota students. Participants will speak with key lawmakers, hear from Gustavus alumni who work in the legislature, tour the Capitol, and have the opportunity to network with Gustavus alumni.

The Day at the Capitol event is strongly supported by the Gustavus Student Senate which provides funding for the charter bus that takes the group to the Capitol as well as serving as the primary contact for the Minnesota Association of Private College Students (MAPCS) which works diligently to advocate for the Minnesota State Grant program.

A day packed with legislative advocacy, sightseeing, and networking. After much success, our networking event returns, and takes place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. This event will give students attending Day at the Capitol an opportunity to network with Gustavus alumni who are working in careers affiliated with the Capitol and state government.
