Dr. Pamela Conners

Co-Director

Pamela Conners is Professor of Communication Studies. Her research examines public policy rhetoric and deliberative processes, with a particular focus on civic identity and place. She has published in journals such as Rhetoric &Public Affairs, Argumentation & Advocacy, Communication Center Journal, and Western Journal of Communication. Her deliberation research and praxis on campus and in the community has been externally funded by the Minnesota Humanities Center and the Council of Independent Colleges. She is currently collaborating with Wabash College, Saint Louis Community College, and Colorado State University on a project examining deliberative pedagogy in chemistry classrooms, funded by the National Science Foundation’s Improving Undergraduate STEM Education Initiative (#2012931).

Dr. Hagar Attia

Co-Director

Hagar Attia is Assistant Professor of Communication Studies. Her current research examines social movement rhetorics, dialogue, and deliberation, specifically focusing on fundamental identities and argumentation. Her dissertation is titled: "Purity, Preservation, and Protection: Fundamentalist Arguments in American Discourse" and examines fundamentalist argumentation in a diversity of contexts.
