Faculty Writing Retreat at American Swedish Institute (ASI)
The February retreat will be held on Saturday, February 10th. Faculty can participate in a full day 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. devoted to writing. We’ll reimburse up to $15 toward your lunch. Please email Cathy Blaukat (cblaukat@gac.edu) to sign up. 

Sabbatical Preparation 
If you are proposing a sabbatical for 2025-2026 or are preparing to go on sabbatical in 2024-2025, this session is for you. Consider plans for sabbatical, engage with others about how to make the most of your sabbatical, and get answers to your sabbatical questions. Shoptalk with Jeff Jenson
Professor Jenson, College and Lutheran Church Archivist & Associate Professor in Library, will present "Crotalus horridus: A History of Destruction in the North Star State" on Friday, February 16 at 4:30pm in the Interpretive Center. Read the abstract.

New Faculty Orientation Session: Service & Leadership Discussion 
This session focuses on one’s role in service capacities, specifically as a committee member. Topics include how to choose a committee or service opportunity, what might be expected of you on committees, and how you might constructively contribute to committees in general. Teachers Talking: Self-Regulated Learning in the Classroom
Friday, February 23 for Teaching Talking in the St Peter Room, session at 12:30 - 1:30 pm. Self-regulated learning (SRL) involves the regulation and monitoring of cognition, behavior, and motivation. Research from the SRL field offers important implications for teachers: (1) SRL is a significant predictor of classroom performance; (2) SRL is a skill that can be developed through targeted instruction; and (3) many students (including undergraduates) do not effectively self-regulate their learning in the absence of targeted instruction. Participants can expect to learn how to support SRL through pedagogical choices and assignment design. Event

Writing Retreat Feedback
The Kendall Center is currently deciding when to offer its writing retreats on campus and at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis once the new academic calendar goes into effect this fall. Please fill out our survey by Monday, February 26 so we can get a sense of what options work best for most people and start planning the retreats. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Faculty Success Program 
The Faculty Success Program is facilitated by the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The summer program runs May 20th - July 28, 2024. The NCFDD Faculty Success Program is a 12-week, online-based program where participants learn strategies to increase their research productivity, gain control of their time, and live a full and healthy life beyond campus. The Kendall Center has committed to match 50% of the cost for up to 4 recipients per year for full-time, tenure-line faculty to participate in this program. Tuition for summer 2024 is $4,150 per participant, which includes a discount if we register you by March 8. Applications for match funding are due Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
