Teachers Talking 11/10

Join us on Tuesday, November 10 for Teachers Talking. Alisa Rosenthal will present the topic: Keeping Students Engaged. Meyers and Jones (1993) wrote "Active learning involves providing opportunities for students to meaningfully talk and listen, write, read, and reflect on the content, ideas, issues, and concerns of an academic subject." Sometimes, though, our efforts to provide exactly those opportunities seem to be met with reluctance or even resistance from students. Join us for a discussion of teaching strategies that help to transform the learning environment (both inside and outside of the classroom) from a passive learning experience centered around the faculty member to an active learning setting in which students feel responsible for their own learning. Program at 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. Free lunch at Three Crowns buffet, then meet in the Heritage Room.

These sessions will be held in our Olin Technology Center Classroom (Olin Hall 124B) and are facilitated by different GTS technology experts.
