Teaching Development Grant
Teaching Development Grants are small grants of up to $500 to support faculty members’ pedagogical development. Proposals should make clear how the funding will foster the incorporation of new and better approaches to teaching intended to enhance student learning.
Faculty are not eligible for more than one teaching development grant in a fiscal year (June 1-May 31).
Expenses may include:
- Registration fees for workshops, seminars, online courses, and webinars that advance faculty member’s preparation for teaching
- Outside guest experts that support pedagogical or curricular development for multiple faculty on campus (providing a workshop or seminar, not a lecture)
- Materials and supplies (one time only; continuing costs for materials and supplies should be integrated into department/program budgets)
Disallowed expenses:
- Travel
- Stipends to Gustavus Adolphus College faculty, staff, or students
- Guest lecture honoraria for classes (These should normally be supported through departments and programs. Guest lecture funds are also available though Lefler funds.
- Student activities (e.g. travel, entertainment, or expenses)
- Registration for faculty members’ professional conference (see Travel Fund)
- Entertainment expenses that are not compliant with College policy; entertainment may not be the primary activity of the grant
