2024 - 2025 Parking Permits
Online Parking Permit registration is available at this time as we prepare for the new Academic year. All students and staff can register online to apply for a parking permit. Please have your ID number and vehicle information ready. First year students will be issued BLUE permits, returning students SILVER, Reduced Fee lot PURPLE, and staff GOLD.
All student parking permits for ‘24-’25 cost $310. Charges will be sent to Student Accounts at the end of August and appear on September statements. Permits are sold on a first-come, first served basis until they are gone.
Permits are as follows
- First-Year Students: Blue Permits
- Returning Students: Silver Permits
- Reduced Price Lot: Purple Permits - Only 100 permit stickers are available for this lot, Drenttel Golf Lot (W), on a first come first serve basis to students. This lot is a good choice if you don't use your vehicle regularly but still need to park on campus. However, Campus Safety recommends that you regularly check your vehicle while it is parked here.
- Staff: Gold Permits
Please note that first-year students will be able to park in specific BLUE lots only, and these lots will not be adjacent to their residence hall. Bear this in mind when deciding whether or not to bring a car to campus.
Permits are non-transferable and must be affixed to the outside of the back window of the vehicle, on the top right hand side. A parking permit is required in order to park on campus. However, a parking permit does not guarantee the holder a parking space in a particular lot, only an opportunity to park in any of the designated permit lots of that color on campus. A vehicle is not registered until the appropriate sticker or permit is displayed correctly on the vehicle. Even if a student chooses to live off campus, they are still a student of Gustavus and will need a parking permit if they plan to park on campus! Visitor parking is closed to students and employees at all times (24/7/365).
During the academic year, there is no online registration and a student will always need to register a vehicle in the Campus Safety office. If your child misses the online registration window, in-person registration will be available in the Campus Safety office starting August 26th and will continue throughout the academic year, 24 hours a day. Note that any vehicle not displaying a new, valid parking permit will be cited beginning at 9 am on the first day of class (Tuesday, September 3rd).
Contact the Campus Safety office 24 hours a day at 507-933-8888 with any parking related questions, or email Campus Safety at safety@gustavus.edu.
