Heritage Scholarships
Designed to attract bright students with the highest need, Heritage Scholarships are a crucial part of these students’ financial aid. With your four-year commitment of $3,000 per year, a scholarship will be awarded to a first-year student and remain with them during their four years at Gustavus.
This is a named scholarship. Just like an endowed scholarship, it can be presented with your name, a family or group name, or in honor of a special person. Your gift of a Heritage Scholarship can help make a Gustavus education possible—right now—for a talented and deserving student.
In Fall 2024 we hope to award 100 Heritage Scholarships to incoming students. There are scholarships in need of funding for new students of the Class of 2028. If you would like to support a student during their four years at Gustavus, please contact Tricia Stenberg in the Advancement Office at triciastenberg@gustavus.edu.
Establishing a Named Heritage Scholarship
Minimum scholarship amount: A commitment of $3,000 per year for four years is required to establish a named Heritage Scholarship.
Who can give? Heritage Scholarships can be funded by individuals, generations of Gusties from the same family, groups of former classmates and any of our alumni, parents and friends of the College.
Funding options: Gifts may be made outright as cash, appreciated stock, or through a multi-year pledge.
Length of distribution: A student will retain their scholarship throughout their four years at Gustavus Adolphus College so long as they remain in good academic standing.
Selection of recipient: The Gustavus Office of Financial Aid selects the recipient, based on student financial need.
Connecting with the recipient: Scholarship recipients work through the Office of Advancement to personally thank donors. Other opportunities to connect with the recipient of your scholarship can be arranged by request.
