Pharmacy Four Year Plan

Requirements for professional schools vary from school to school and can change year by year, students must carefully examine the pre-requisite requirements of the schools they are interested in to be current and accurate when registering for courses at Gustavus.

The (PCAT) Pharmacy College Admission Test is NO longer required as of the 2023-2024 cycle.

First Year: Fall

BIO 110 Principles of Biology & BIO 111 Lab 

*CHE 110 General Chemistry & CHE 111 General Chemistry Lab OR CHE 105 Foundations of Chemistry I (PCAT) & CHE 106 Foundations of Chemistry I Lab 

*Before you can register for CHE 110, you are required to take the Chemistry placement exam. (CHE 105/106 offered Fall only and CHE 107/108 offered Spring only) taking both are equivalent to CHE 110. Find out more about the CHE placement exam, click here.

BIO 218 Fundamentals of Microbiology & BIO 219 Lab or BIO 360 Microbiology & BIO 361 Lab (but need additional prerequisites to take BIO 360/361)

Regional PharmD Programs Pre-requisite Requirements:

Midwestern University(Speech requirement- COM 117 and COM 120 both accepted). 
Any two elective courses not related to science, math, physical education or health care. Recommended courses include arts and humanities, foreign language, and business and computer courses.

Any 3 courses within the areas of economics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or political science.

Creighton University (Speech requirement- COM 117 and COM 120 both accepted, must include public speaking). 
Electives- three courses from humanities or behavioral or social sciences.
 
University of Colorado
One English Composition course, Two Humanities/Social Science courses 
 
University of Wisconsin- MadisonGeneral electives four courses (Social Science, Humanities, Foreign Language or Diversity Studies) or U.S. bachelor's degree. 

University of Iowa(Microeconomics and Rhetoric requirement- COM 120 accepted). General Education electives four courses required. Two or the four courses need to be within the social sciences.
