Cameron Clause '14
Name: Cameron Clause
Graduating Class: 2014
Major: Chemistry
Your Story:
Cameron Clause, Senior at Gustavus Adolphus College, grew up in Mankato, Minnesota.
I chose Gustavus because it was a small, well-respected liberal arts college that was close enough to home, yet far enough away. I also wanted to compete in track and field in the pole vault.
My interest in pre-dental started in high school, although I did not really commit to the idea until spring semester of my sophomore year at Gustavus.
My most influential experience at Gustavus confirming my pre-dental path was being able to work as a lab and anesthesia assistant at an oral surgery office in Mankato for two years.

Top Five Activities/Experiences:
- Competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in the Men’s Heptathlon and placing 5th, earning All-American honors.
- Being a Gustie Greeter for two years.
- Going on a Habitat for Humanity trip to Taos, NM over spring break during my first year.
- Joining and being involved with the national fraternity on campus: Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
- Took a training trip to Barbados with the track team and got to compete in the national stadium.
Advice:
- I would definitely encourage students to get involved with at least one group on campus while at school, especially groups that offer service to others in the community and around campus.
- It is important to enjoy your collegiate life and not be stuck in your studies at all times. You only get to go to Gustavus once, so make your college years fun.
- I wish I would have had the courage as a younger student to reach out for help from the faculty and from older students. It’s amazing how many people are so willing to help you out if you just ask.
Future Plans:
I will continue to work at the oral surgery office that I have for the last two years, and will be attending the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in the fall of 2014.
