The Gustavus Faculty Service Award

The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce the annual Gustavus Faculty Service Award. This award is the highest accolade a Gustavus faculty member can receive for distinguished service activities.


An honorarium of $1,000 will be presented at Founder’s Day.


This award is open to any Gustavus faculty member. Past winners are listed below.

Evaluation Criteria

Nominations will be reviewed for accomplishments from both Gustavus service and wider-community or professional service. The following criteria may be considered in preparing a nomination:

  • Leadership in the governance of the College, in an academic department or program, in the faculty and its committees, or in other college positions
  • Leadership and service in professional and/or public organizations, boards, or commissions related to the academic field(s) or assignments
  • Specific projects and initiatives that have enhanced the quality the College's programs and advanced its goals.


Nominations will be accepted from administrators, faculty, students, or oneself. Re-nominations are welcome. Nominations are due annually by April 15.
