Student OrgsWomxn in STEM
- Statement Of Purpose/ Mission
- Our Womxn in STEM organization will provide resources and support to students who are typically underrepresented in STEM. In this male-dominated field, we recognize the importance of uplifting the underrepresented people in our community, reaching out to women and people who may not otherwise feel encouraged to explore STEM, and ensure that everyone feels welcome and on track for success. We will focus on outreach and inclusion of womxn at Gustavus and in our surrounding community. We will specifically focus on inviting women in physics from the Minnesota community to Gustavus to present research and give talks as well as host smaller group discussions to allow our students to engage further with the speakers, ask questions and learn about different career paths in STEM. Another focus will be outreach to womxn and girls in the community.
