Residential Life Staff

The Residential Life office is located on the lower level of the Jackson Campus Center. Our central office staff consists of our Director, Assistant Director, four Area Coordinators and an Administrative Assistant. We are committed to a student-focused approach to campus housing. Director of Residential Life

Charlie Potts: Charlie is beginning his third year as Director in fall 2013. A graduate of Gustavus, he is currently a doctoral student at the University of Minnesota. Charlie oversees all aspects of the residential program at Gustavus. He has worked in student affairs at Minnesota colleges for the last decade.

Assistant Director of Residential Life

Kyle Haiman: Kyle started as Assistant Director in February 2012 after starting his professional housing career at North Dakota State University. Kyle is primarily responsible for the Collegiate Fellow program and the development of leadership programs (like Hall Council) and oversight of the Intentional Learning & Service programs. Kyle also coordinates our Summer Housing program.

Area Coordinators

Area Coordinators are full-time professional staff members who live on campus and are responsible for oversight and management of specific areas of campus. The Area Coordinators supervise the Collegiate Fellows, assist with facilities management, oversee the conduct process for their areas and are available for conversations, support and to address concerns from students.

Jordan Zahrte: Jordan serves as the Area Coordinator for Norelius Hall, Prairie View Hall and the Carlson International Center. Jordan is starting her first year at Gustavus in the fall of 2013 after finishing her master's degree program at the University of St. Thomas. Jordan lives in Norelius Hall.

Caitlin Herby: Caitlin serves as the Area Coordinator for Uhler Hall, Pittman Hall & Sohre Hall. She lives in Uhler Hall. Caitlin is starting her first year at Gustavus in the fall of 2013 after finishing her master's degree program at the University of St. Thomas.

Alisa Dean: Alisa serves as the Area Coordinator for College View Apartments, Chapel View Townhomes, Arbor View Apartments and Southwest Hall. Alisa lives in Southwest. She is beginning her second year at Gustavus in the fall of 2013.

Kevin Bruins : Kevin serves as the Area Coordinator for the Complex (North, Sorensen and Gibbs Halls) as well as Rundstrom Hall. Kevin lives in North Hall. He is beginning his second year at Gustavus in the fall of 2013.

FAIRs are live-in, professional staff or faculty who are charged with actively creating and sustaining living environments conducive to the learning, growth, and development of students by facilitating learning outside-the-classroom, promoting community development and serving as a resource and mentor to students. Collegiate Fellows

Collegiate Fellows (CFs) are carefully selected upper-class students assigned to a floor or section who are charged with actively creating and sustaining a living environment conducive to the learning, growth, and development of students. CFs have a variety of responsibilities: peer counseling, facilitating activities and programs that encourage the development of a strong, positive, and inclusive community in the hall, acting as general resources and referral agents.

Residential Life Student Employees

Student staff members work in the Residential Life Office through the College's student employment program. Their job includes receptionist duties, answering telephones, data entry, web work, bulletin board creation, filing and general office duties.
