Assistant Softball Coach in Athletics

Kirsten Prunty is in her third season as an assistant coach at Gustavus in 2019. Prunty, a New Ulm, Minn. native, is a 2011 graduate of Gustavus and earned her master’s in educational leadership from Concordia-St. Paul in 2018.

Prunty started her softball coaching career as a junior varsity coach at Mankato West High School in 2012 where she spent four years on staff, working on player development and game execution. She then became an assistant varsity coach at Mankato East High School in 2015 for two years where she spent the majority of her time working with the outfield, hitting development, and team chemistry.

Prunty was a four-year starter for Gustavus softball from 2008-11, earning All-Conference honors in 2010 at shortstop where she hit .420 in conference, a fielding percentage of .923, and a slugging percentage of .496. She was a member of the 2009 team that won the MIAC championship and placed third at the NCAA Championships where she was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance in left field and at the plate.
