It was when I was a senior in a high school honors' English class that I decided I wanted to teach English. Though I graduated from college planning to teach great literature to high school students, my first teaching job was in a middle school. I loved the energy and enthusiasm that middle school students brought to the classroom each day, and I appreciated the teamwork and comradery among middle school teaching teams.
Since my early years in the middle school classroom, I have been privileged to serve at many different levels of education--as a curriculum specialist, an English teacher in an alternative high school, an online English 10 teacher, and a college professor. Education is a gift, and I enjoy the gift of building relationships with, honoring, and learning alongside my students everyday!
