Our Mission

Counseling Center

Mission Statement

The Gustavus Adolphus College Counseling Center provides a safe and inclusive environment which fosters the wellbeing, resiliency, and holistic development of all students.

Inclusivity Statement

Gustavus Counseling Center is committed to recognizing and valuing the inherent worth and dignity of every person; promotes acceptance, sensitivity, understanding, and mutual respect among its members; and encourages each individual to strive to reach their own potential. We believe diversity strengthens our institution, stimulates creativity, promotes the exchange of ideas and enriches campus life; we actively strive to have representation of our increasingly diverse student population in our center staffing, and also reflected in our therapeutic services and programming.

Diversity Statement

The Counseling Center staff is committed to engaging in regular, ongoing self-reflection and continuing education regarding systemic inequality. We will use this knowledge to inform our services and programming, to meet students in their many intersecting identities, and in fostering specific considerations for historically marginalized groups.
