Readmission Process

for students returning to Gustavus

Students who have attended Gustavus in the past without completing their degree and would like to return* must fill out the Application for Readmission. Because circumstances are unique to each individual, requirements to return must be made on a case-by-case basis.** The process will be directly facilitated by CARE Staff but follows these main steps:

Student:

  • Fills out the APPLICATION FOR READMISSION
  • Emails completed application to: caresupport@gustavus.edu
  • Receives notification application has been received.
  • Communicates with CARE Staff.
  • Completes any necessary requirements/resolves all holds (academic, judicial, financial, medical, etc).
  • Upon approval receives a letter from the Provost Office confirming readmittance.
  • Registers for next semester classes with assistance from Faculty Advisor or CARE Staff.

CARE Staff:

  • Reviews Application for Readmission
  • Responds to Student via email or phone to discuss individual plan.
  • Contacts Registrar, Student Accounts, Dean of Students, Residential Life and/or other campus partners.
  • Communicates directly with Student.
  • Facilitates acceptance/denial and submits to the Provost Office.
  • Informs necessary campus partners of decision and anticipated date of return.

*Students who enrolled full-time (12+ credits taken in one or more semester) at another college or university after leaving Gustavus should apply to Gustavus as a transfer student as outlined on the Transfer Student Admission website.
**Students returning from military service should bypass this process and contact the Registrar's Office directly.
