A proud 1999 graduate of Gustavus, Tom returned to his alma mater as an Admission Counselor in 2003 after completing his graduate degree at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Earlier in his career in Admission, Tom recruited from all regions of out-state Minnesota as well as the Rocky Mountain states. He also served on the diversity and campus visit teams and supervised the Admission student employment program for six years.
Tom currently leads the College's transfer and PSEO admission programs, including all aspects of transfer and PSEO student recruitment, enrollment management and marketing. He also recruits first-year students from the St. Peter/Mankato area and southeast Minnesota. In addition, he developed and continues to lead the Admission Office's communication efforts with parents and high school/independent counselors. Tom also assists with special events, social media and working with outside vendors.
Tom has been an actively involved member of the Minnesota Association for College Admission Counseling (MACAC) since 2002. A 2010 graduate of MACAC's Leadership Development Program and current LDP faculty member, he was also fortunate to serve as co-chair of the Member Relations Committee (2012-2015) as well as a member the MACAC Board (2012-2015). He is also a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).
Tom lives in St. Peter with his wife, Brenda '99, and their children, Malcolm and Ivy.
