The mission of the association is to offer high level men’s volleyball to the Gustavus campus. We will compete in the Northern Intercollegiate Volleyball Conference. Our goal is to play at a high level and teach new players the skills needed for high level volleyball.
Article I: Name and Mission Statement
Section I: The organization shall be called Men’s Club Volleyball
Section II: The mission of the association is to offer high level men’s volleyball to the Gustavus campus. We will compete in the Northern Intercollegiate Volleyball Conference. Our goal is to play at a high level and teach new players the skills needed for high level volleyball.
Article II: Membership
Section I: Any male full-time student may join Men’s Club Volleyball. Not all members will compete in games but all members should attend practice.
Article III: Officers
Section I: The positions available are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. All officers must be practicing members of the club and be full time students at Gustavus. Any member can be elected into any officer position.
Section II: The officers will work together to organize funding and form an event and practice schedule for the season. However, each position will have an emphasis in certain tasks.
a. Finalizing decisions
b. Creating general plans for event schedule and fundraising
c. Directing operations of other officers
B. Vice President
a. Assisting the president/ standing in for the president
b. Serving as second opinion in planning/ researching details
a. Direct contact with supervisor and senate
b. Organizing tournament entry
c. Maintaining documents
a. Managing funds
b. Organizing fundraising efforts
c. Creating budget each year
Section III: At the beginning of each year (September) all members of the organization will vote on who shall fill each position. A member will hold their position until the next election. All members can receive votes and have the right to decline election into a position. In the event that all positions are not filled after the first elections members may volunteer for the positions left unfilled. If two or more members volunteer for the same position a vote will be held.
Section IV: Officers hold their position until the next election. In the case that an officer is not properly fulfilling his duties any member may call for a vote to remove them. A 2/3 vote of all active members may remove an officer. In this case the voting process will occur with all members (including the previously removed officer) able to be elected.
Article IV: Meetings
Section I: Practices will be held as decided by the team at the beginning of each year. Practices will be scheduled on a weekly basis throughout the entire school year.
Section II: A meeting of the officers will be held after election and in January to go over scheduling for the upcoming semester. All decisions in these meetings must be a majority vote to pass.
Article V: Finances
Section I: Funds are allocated by the Gustavus Student Senate, and through donations/fundraising.
Section II: Should Men’s Club Volleyball dissolve any leftover funds will be credited to Student Senate
Article V: By-laws
Section I: By-laws may be proposed by any active member at any time. They must be presented to an officer who will then call a vote during the next team meeting. A majority vote is required for the vote to pass.
Section II: By-laws go into effect immediately after passing the vote.
Article VI: Amendments
Section I: Any member may propose an amendment to the constitution. A requirement of a 2/3 vote of the current members of the group is required for the amendment to be passed.
Section II: A member must be a full time student and attend a majority of practices in order to vote. Each month a new list of active members will be created by the Vice President to indicate who is considered an active member. ‘
Section III; All amendments will go into effect immediately after being passed.
