A Short-Term Solution
Here are timelines for Spring end-of-semester housing:
- Non-graduating students: All residence housing closes at 9 a.m. the Friday after finals.
- If you are not a senior but are part of Commencement activities, your move-out deadline is 6 p.m. the Sunday after Commencement.
- Graduating seniors: Seniors participating in Commencement must move out by 9 a.m. the Monday after Commencement.
Do you need on-campus housing after these dates? You may qualify to make an after-finals housing request.
Applications are due Sunday, April 11, 2027. Any applications received after this date are subject to a late processing fee of $5 per day, in addition to any housing charges.
Criteria to Apply
You can apply for after-finals housing if you meet any of the following criteria:
- Short Travel Extension—Reside further than 350 miles away or are an International Student and cannot travel until after the residence halls close—see dates above.
- This extension accommodates a brief delay for flight or departure coordination only. It does not permit an extended stay beyond what your travel requires.
- Required to remain on campus for a departmental requirement (must be planning to depart by May 14—otherwise you must submit a summer housing request. Summer housing begins May 15.
- Class requirement (if only required to be on campus for one week post-Commencement)
- Music tour departure in May
- Student employment—Completing spring student employment hours
- May Away departure coordination.
There is no charge for after-finals housing if a campus department requires you to remain on campus from May 4 to May 14.
Graduating Seniors
If you are a graduating senior whose name appears on the registrar’s list of May grads, and you reside on campus, you will be approved to remain in campus housing through Commencement. You do not need to submit an after-finals request form. If you move out prior to Commencement please return your room key(s) directly to the Housing and Residence Life Office as confirmation of your move-out.
