The Gustavus Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures offers the opportunity to learn Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Russian through immersive language, culture, and study abroad opportunities.

Gustavus Music Department offers musical experiences for any level, including rigorous, conservatory-like training. There are 240+ performances yearly with diverse ensembles, plus career prep in performance, teaching, and composition.

Gustavus Nursing Department is home to an accredited clinical nursing education experience grounded in the liberal arts. Graduates are eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination and meet the requirements for certification as a public health nurse in Minnesota.

The Gustavus PJCS Program is an interdisciplinary one in which students study global conflict, justice, and nonviolent solutions through experiential learning and global perspectives.

Through the Gustavus Philosophy department, expect small, discussion-based classes in ethics, critical thinking, and global perspectives, with focused research, dialogue, study away opportunities, and faculty mentorship.

The Gustavus Physics Department offers a major/minor that blends liberal‑arts problem‑solving, faculty‑mentored research, lab experience, and career prep.

Through the Gustavus Political Science Department, students explore government, policy, law, and global affairs. Expect internships, research, active student organizations, and opportunities for leadership.

Through the Gustavus Psychological Science Department, students study the mind and behavior, engage in research, internships, community-engaged learning, and get faculty mentorship for diverse careers.

The Public Health Program is home to the Public Health major/minor. Students learn to address the challenges that impact the health of communities and individuals, such as health care access, environmental health, infectious disease prevention, and more.

Through the Gustavus Religion Department, students explore diverse religious traditions and ethics, and engage in interfaith dialogue through interdisciplinary study and community engagement.

Through the Gustavus Scandinavian Studies Department, students study Swedish language and Nordic culture. There are opportunities to study abroad in Sweden, conduct field research, work in internships, and participate in Nordic arts events.

Through the Gustavus Sociology & Anthropology Department, students explore cultures, institutions, and inequality via interdisciplinary research, fieldwork, internships, and global learning.
