Provost's Award for Teaching Excellence by a Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Member
The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce the annual Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence by a Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Member. Continuing, adjunct, visiting, and part-time instructors are valuable members of the Gustavus Adolphus College community and this award recognizes a Gustavus non-tenure-track faculty member for significant contributions to teaching and learning.
Award
An honorarium of $1,000 will be presented at the May Faculty Meeting.
Eligibility
This award is open to any continuing, adjunct, visiting, or part-time faculty member as defined in the Faculty Manual who has taught or is teaching at Gustavus Adolphus College for a minimum of two semesters, with at least one of these semesters occurring during the current academic year. Nominees or nominators can verify a nominee’s status with Shanon Nowell (snowell@gustavus.edu). Past award winners are listed below.
Evaluation Criteria
Nominations will be reviewed for teaching excellence, impact on student learning, and commitment to undergraduate education at Gustavus Adolphus College. The following criteria may be considered in preparing a nomination:
- An approach to teaching and assessment that engages students in the process of learning
- High standards that promote academic excellence
- Innovative and effective teaching strategies
- Efforts showing a commitment to improving teaching and learning
Nominations
Nominations will be accepted from administrators, faculty, students, or oneself. Re-nominations are welcome. Nominations are due annually by April 15.
