Jed Friedrich begins his 18th year at Gustavus in 2021. He currently serves as the Equipment Manager and Club Nordic Ski Coach after serving 10 years as the Varsity Nordic Ski Coach. Friedrich also spent five years as the Head Cross Country Coach and taught courses in the HES department.

Friedrich's skiers qualified for the Division I NCAA Championships on five different occasions.  Chandra Daw was the first ever Gustie to qualify in 2006, Kelly Chaudoin, Laura Edlund, and Kathleen DeWahl in 2008; Kelly Chaudoin in 2009; and Jens Brabbit qualified in both 2010 and 2011.

Friedrich was named the CCSA Women's Nordic Ski Coach of the Year in 2008 after the team finished second at the NCAA Regional Championships behind Northern Michigan University.

Friedrich, a St. Cloud native, is a 2003 graduate of Northern Michigan University.  At NMU, he was a member of the NCAA Regional Championship teams in 1999, 2000 and 2001. He received All-America Scholar honors three times. Friedrich served as an assistant coach at NMU and spent a year teaching K-12 Health and Phyical Education before arriving at Gustavus.

Jed and his wife, Jennie, live in St. Peter with their children, Keira, Brielle, and Kellen.
