Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee serves as the primary curricular planning body for the faculty, responsible for recommending to the faculty policies and programs that affect the college in general and for reviewing and recommending departmental, interdepartmental, and interdisciplinary programs and policies. The Curriculum Committee also approves new and revised semester and Summer Term courses, General Education Area courses, Writing courses, and First Term and Challenge Seminars. The Curriculum Committee welcomes comments about policies it will be recommending to the Faculty, and about courses that are in review. All comments can be emailed to the full committee at: cc-com@gustavus.edu. See here information about: curriculum committee meeting times and dates and curricular planning meetings and workshops information.

Proposal Forms and Deadlines

Starting in 2024-25, the course and program proposal process will occur through our online catalog software, Coursedog. In Fall 2024, the Provost’s Office will host workshops for people wanting to submit proposals. You can find more proposal information here.

Course Proposal Deadlines

It is critical that you plan ahead so that you can submit proposals on or before the deadline. Submitting late proposals may result in your course not being listed in time for registration.

We have created a new general education curriculum landing page for students, a first stop for information about the academic program changes. The page includes video and print overviews of the changes, a FAQ we will update throughout Spring 2024, and a worksheet that will help explain how current courses will translate into the new curriculum.
