Statement Of Purpose/ Mission
We are the Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians, and we are here to inform, mobilize, and support activists committed to the philosophies of economic freedom, personal liberty, social tolerance, and individuality; which we will promote on the Gustavus Adolphus College Campus and in the greater community. The Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians pledge to provide an opportunity for open political discussion, perspective, and advocacy. Furthermore, we pledge our support to political dialogue and due consideration of all viewpoints—as long as all discussions keep the precept of civility in mind and are conducted with good intentions.

ARTICLE I Name The name of this organization shall be the Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians. ARTICLE II Purpose We are the Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians, and we are here to inform, mobilize, and support activists committed to the philosophies of economic freedom, personal liberty, social tolerance, and individuality; which we will promote on the Gustavus Adolphus College Campus and in the greater community. The Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians pledge to provide an opportunity for open political discussion, perspective, and advocacy. Furthermore, we pledge our support to political dialogue and due consideration of all viewpoints—as long as all discussions keep the precept of civility in mind and are conducted with good intentions. ARTICLE III Other Affiliations The Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians are an independent and autonomous organization, bound only to the rules and policies of Gustavus Adolphus College; however, the Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians has the right to affiliate themselves with other organizations such as the national Libertarian Party or other organization if they so choose and so long those organizations align with the principles mentioned in Article II. ARTICLE IV Executive Board The executive board shall consist of a president and vice president or two co-presidents, a secretary, and a treasurer. Any other titles/roles may be created and admitted into the Executive Board by majority vote of the president(s) and vice president, secretary, and treasurer collectively. All added positions have the aforementioned responsibilities attributed to the explicitly mentioned positions. In addition, any titles/roles added to the executive board may be removed by the entirety of the executive board, excluding the position in question, must unanimously agree to remove the position. ARTICLE V Selection of Executive Board The president(s) and vice president, secretary, and treasurer of Gustavus Adolphus College Libertarians shall be elected by the members. The vote shall be by ranked-choice (instant runoff). Other executives added shall be selected by a simple majority vote decided by the current executive board. ARTICLE VI Elections There will be at the minimum one election per school year. The Executive Board must call a special election for any vacant executive positions. Elections may take place at any time during the school year, determined by a simple majority of the current Executive Board members so long as there is at least one per school year. ARTICLE VII Removal of Executive Officers If for any reason the executive board feels a board member can no longer fulfill the assigned obligations, the entirety of the executive board, excluding the member in question, must unanimously agree to dismiss the board member from the position. An active member may, at any time, petition the Executive Board to remove a member of the Executive Board. ARTICLE VIII Any election needs to be publicized at least two meetings in advance or fourteen days, whichever is longer. Election information needs to be announced at least once through the entire email alias, prior to the election. ARTICLE IX Amending the Constitution Any proposal to amend the constitution must be reviewed and voted on by a simple majority of the Executive Board and, if passed, then becomes an election requiring two thirds of the present members. This election is subject to the term of Article VIII.
