Professor Emeritus in German and em. Prof. of German in Modern Languages, Literature, and Cultures

Born in Germany, experienced as a child the Second World War in war-torn Germany and the post-war time. Academic education in West Germany (member of the student parliament and assistant at the Foreign Office of the Free University, contact scholarships with two Swedish universities und invitation to Iceland by the then prime minister Bjarni Benediktsson) and the United States (Fulbright exchange student). International study travel on three continents in over 15 countries; twice exchange professor for an academic year to Kansai Gaidai (Kansai University of Foreign Studies; taught courses in English, German and American Culture). Prizes for poetry in German and haiku and tanka (poetry in the tradition of Japanese poetic forms.)
