Required Immunizations/Vaccines

Minnesota law requires all students born after Dec 31, 1956 who enroll in a Minnesota college or university to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus (Td or Tdap) and measles, mumps and rubella (MMR). This law allows for some exemptions. If students do not complete the requirements by the 10th day of class, a registration hold will be placed on their record for the following semester. The easiest way to meet the requirements for is to log into the student Gustavus Health Portal and complete the immunization form or the appropriate exemption document. 

Exemptions

Students with an exemption (medical or conscientious/religious objection) to MMR or Td/Tdap must print the Gustavus MMR/Td/Tdap Immunization Exemption form which must be signed by a healthcare provider (MD, DO, PA, or NP) or notarized. Your immunization requirement will not be fulfilled until this signed form is uploaded to your Gustavus Health Portal.

Recommended Vaccines

Gustavus Adolphus College and the American College Health Association also strongly recommend:

• Remaining up to date on COVID-19 booster vaccines
• Annual influenza vaccine
• Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B series
• Meningitis vaccines (MenACWY & MenB)
• HPV (Gardasil) vaccine
