Womxn of Color Summit
On Saturday, April 18, 2020, the Diversity Center at Gustavus Adolphus College will host the 3rd Annual Womxn of Color Summit, to support and empower young women of color who attend post-secondary education institutions within Minnesota.
This year’s theme is “A Womxn’s Touch”, where we explore how womxn of color and indigenous womxn have transformed the different disciplines they touch. We are trailblazers in today’s world. We pave the way and empower young womxn of color to persevere and push through in the different careers that we explore. The Womxn of Color Summit aims to help each other uncover and navigate the reality that there are fields with disparities of representation through unwavering support of each other.
The Womxn of Color Summit is intended to offer women of color the same wonderful opportunities that Black men are afforded at the annual fall Kente Summit - an environment to build community. It is designed to help womxn of color and indigenous womxn find affinity with one another, help them embrace their intersecting identities, and offer an environment for them to discuss current issues of race on their campuses and nationwide.
