Tuition Benefits
Gustavus Adolphus College offers tuition benefit programs to eligible employees and their dependent children: Tuition Exchange, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) Tuition Exchange, and the Gustavus Scholarship Program.
Eligibility
Dependents are eligible for the following tuition benefits after the parent has completed two years of aggregate full-time employment. A parent’s service at a regionally accredited higher education institution will be considered for the two years of full-time employment. Benefits begin at the start of the semester following the qualifying full-time anniversary date. Employees must remain full-time, benefits-eligible (i.e., work a minimum of 30 hours per week for 39 weeks) during benefit use. Should a benefits-eligible employee drop below full-time status or terminate employment, the benefit terminates at the end of the current semester. Employees who are on approved leaves of absence with pay and benefits will maintain eligibility as long as they were eligible prior to leave. If an eligible Gustavus employee retires as defined by College policy, is permanently disabled, or is deceased, any eligible children currently enrolled in the program or enrolled in grades 9-12 at the time of change will remain eligible.
Tuition Exchange
About
Tuition Exchange offers the opportunity for dependent children to attend another institution with a tuition exchange scholarship. It is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity for eligible faculty and staff dependents at all 700+ individual member schools. It is not an employee benefit but an opportunity because of employment. All Gustavus eligible employee dependents are certified for this program. It is up to the receiving institution to determine admission and eligibility for scholarships. Tuition Exchange can be a competitive award. The minimum scholarship amount is set by Tuition Exchange and the member school. This program is only available for a student's first undergraduate degree.
