Follow the schedule of events for your third day on campus as a Gustie.

Schedule of Events

7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. — Evelyn Young Dining Room open (Jackson Campus Center)

9:00 a.m. — Fun Run (Meet at Three Flags) - Optional 
Meet up with some of the Gustie Greeters and the Dean of Students (Charlie Potts) for a relaxed run through and around campus, where the Greeters will show you some of the routes that our students like to run. The route will go through the Arboretum, around campus using Jefferson Street, Broadway Avenue, and Sunrise Avenue. It will be at a relaxed pace and go no longer than 3 miles. 

9:00 a.m. — Walk and Talk (Meet at Three Flags) - Optional 
Meet up with some of the Gustie Greeters for a casual walk through the Arboretum and around campus. 

9:00 a.m. — Yoga with the Gustavus Yoga Club (Cec Eckhoff Alumni Hall in Johnson Student Union) - Optional
Recharge and connect at this yoga session, where you'll enjoy a beginner-friendly practice designed to help you relax, reduce stress, and feel centered as you begin your college journey. No experience is necessary — just bring yourself and a mat (if you have one), and we'll provide a welcoming space to move, breathe, and build connections with fellow new students.

9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. — Music Auditions (Schaefer Fine Arts-Music)
Students interested in participating in a music ensemble should have received an email with further details about a specific audition time. If you have not gotten information and would like to audition, please contact Kristi Borowy (kborowy [at] gustavus.edu).

11:00 a.m. — Groups 1-17: Lunch (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
Lunch with your orientation group. 

11:15 a.m. — Groups 18-34: Lunch (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
Lunch with your orientation group. 

12:00 p.m. — Orientation Group Meeting (Orientation group room assignment)

1:00–2:45 p.m. — “You. Me. We.” (Don Roberts Hockey Arena in Lund Athletic Center)
“You. Me. We.” is a social justice initiative built to provide new students with a forum to discuss the transition to college as it relates to social issues and pluralism. Through a performance presented by the GTC dramatic dialogues, you will have an opportunity to see how culture shapes our identities and to discuss how our common yet varied human spirits impact the lens by which we see the world.

3:00–3:45 p.m. — Orientation Group Debrief (Orientation group room assignment)

3:45 p.m. — Campus and Classroom Tours with Your Orientation Group (Orientation group room assignment)

4:15–4:45 pm — Theatre & Dance Orientation and Audition Info Session (Gardner Laboratory Theatre in Schaefer Fine Arts Center/Nobel Hall)
Find out more about the many opportunities to participate in productions at Gustavus. This orientation is open to anyone interested in any aspect of theatre or dance. 

5:00 p.m. — Groups 18-34: Dinner with your Orientation Group (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)

5:30 p.m. — Groups 1-17: Dinner with your Orientation Group (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)

6:30–7:30 p.m. — Class of 2030 Tulip Planting and Classmate Mixer (Gustavus Arboretum) 
Join other first-year Gusties and the Gustie Greeters to plant your Class of 2030 tulip bulbs. This is a great time to get to know folks who are not in your orientation group.

7:30–8:00 p.m. — Groups 1-17: Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE) Open House (Center for Inclusive Excellence in the lower level of Johnson Student Union)
Learn more about the social, educational, and academic (S.E.A.) opportunities as well as the various resources offered in or through the Center for Inclusive Excellence. Grab a snack and some swag or stick around for game night.

8:00–8:30 p.m. — Groups 18-34: Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE) Open House (Center for Inclusive Excellence in the lower level of Johnson Student Union)
Learn more about the social, educational, and academic (S.E.A.) opportunities as well as the various resources offered in or through the Center for Inclusive Excellence. Grab a snack and some swag or stick around for game night.

8:30 p.m. — Bingo (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
Join us for traditional bingo with prizes.

9:30 p.m. — Build Belonging in Beck (Beck Academic Hall)
Meet Gusties who share similar hobbies and interests to you. Events offered throughout the building include an e-sports tournament, movie night, escape rooms, and a craft (paint your own mini Gustavus Rock or make custom refrigerator magnets). Additionally, head over to Olin for an open house in the observatory hosted by Dr. Darsa Donelan. 

9:30 p.m. — Game Night (Center for Inclusive Excellence in the lower level of Johnson Student Union)
Join the peer assistants for a relaxed game night featuring board games, card games, and other fun activities in a calm, welcoming atmosphere. It's a great way to meet fellow new students, unwind, and enjoy a low-key evening together. 

9:30 p.m. — United Bonfire (Complex Fire Pit near the North, Gibbs, and Sorensen Halls)
The United Christian organizations welcome all students to a fellowship bonfire with s'mores, fun, and conversation.
