Schedule of Events
6:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. — Evelyn Young Dining Room open (Jackson Campus Center)
8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. — Music Auditions (Schaefer Fine Arts-Music)
Students interested in participating in a music ensemble should have received an email with further details about a specific audition time. If you have not received information and would like to audition, please contact Kristi Borowy (kborowy [at] gustavus.edu (kborowy[at]gustavus[dot]edu)).
9:00 a.m. — Wellness at Gustavus (Lund Center Information Desk) - Optional
Kick off your college wellness on the right foot with a tour of the Lund Center. Staff will provide an overview of the building and highlight equipment and facilities available.
9:00 a.m. — Yoga with the Gustavus Yoga Club (Cec Eckhoff Alumni Hall in Johnson Student Union) - Optional
Limited mats available. Please bring your own or feel free to utilize the track flooring.
10:30 a.m. — Student Employment Session (Heritage Banquet Room in Jackson Campus Center)
Kick off the year with an orientation to student employment. During this time you will learn what it means to be a working learner at Gustavus, meet your supervisor, and receive job-specific training information so you can start your first campus job off on the right foot. Your supervisor will reach out to you prior to this event.
11:45 a.m. — Groups 1-17: Lunch with Your Orientation Group (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
Meet with your orientation group outside of the Jackson Campus Center to enjoy lunch together before meeting with your First Term Seminar Advisor.
12:15 p.m. — Groups 18-34: Lunch with Your Orientation Group (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
Meet with your orientation group outside of the Jackson Campus Center to enjoy lunch together before meeting with your First Term Seminar Advisor.
1:00–1:45 p.m. — First Term Seminar (FTS) Meetings (Orientation group room assignment)
This session will be led by your First Term Seminar Professor, who will review the goals and objectives of the FTS program and your syllabus.
2:00-5:00 p.m. — Individual FTS Advising Meetings (Refer to the email from your professor regarding the meeting location)
Meet your FTS professor, who is also your academic advisor, and review your fall schedule before making any necessary adjustments. The specific meeting time and place will be determined during the previous session.
5:30 p.m. — Groups 1-17: Dinner with Orientation Group (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
6:00 p.m. — Groups 18-34: Dinner with Orientation Group (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
7:00 p.m. — Relax and Craft (Center for Inclusive Excellence in Johnson Student Union)
Join others for a quiet evening of crafts and connection.
7:00 p.m. — Square Dance (Don Roberts Hockey Arena in Lund Athletic Center)
You don’t want to miss this Gustavus tradition — cowboy boots and hat optional!
8:15 p.m. — Campus Life Kahoot with Peer Assistants (Evelyn Young Dining Room in Jackson Campus Center)
This fun, interactive session is an opportunity to understand campus norms, expectations, and resources at Gustavus related to healthy choices, policies, and implications related to alcohol use and sexual misconduct.
9:15 p.m. — Neon Dance (Cec Eckhoff Alumni Hall in Johnson Student Union)
Join your fellow classmates for a dance. Dress in your favorite neon-themed outfit!
10:00 p.m. — Residence Hall Events
Get to know the other Gusties you'll be living with this year during hall activities coordinated by your CFs. Meet on your floor/section to gather for a special event just for the residents in your building.
