You're invited to join us for any of the following events. While we also want you to arrange a personal campus visit at some point during the college search, these group visit events are great ways to explore Gustavus.

So that the content and timing of each event best matches your stage in the college search, we've listed the intended audience. If your only chance to visit Gustavus doesn't match a particular visit event, call us to talk about your options.

We'll post the specific schedules as each event nears. To register for an event for which we are ready to accept reservations, click the active link listed under the event.

Preview Gustavus

What's Distinctive?
Preview Gustavus is our final visit event during the 2013-2014 academic year. You can see the campus before current students head home for the summer.

Description
Preview Gustavus is an introduction to the College for high school juniors and sophomores beginning their college search. Visitors have the opportunity to tour the campus, learn about academic departments and facilities, and speak with Gustavus staff and students. There are sessions reviewing the college search timeline, applying to Gustavus and how to access scholarship and financial aid resources.

Minnesota Private College Week

Monday-Friday, June 23-27, 2014

Audience
Sophomores, juniors, & seniors; friends and family

What's Distinctive?
Seventeen of Minnesota's best private colleges and universities offer visit events at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day this week.

Description
This week of half-day (morning or afternoon) visits gives prospective students a quick preview of Gustavus' programs, facilities, and people. While you'll want to come back to campus to get more in-depth information, "MPCW" is a great way to start your college search and get a first impression of Gustavus through campus tours, presentations, and conversations. If you have time, please enjoy lunch in our nationally-ranked cafeteria.

Summer Snapshots

What's Distinctive?
See our professors do what they do best: teach. During these visit events, you can attend "mini-classes" and get a quick picture of a Gustavus-quality education.

Description
Grab your camera and your flip-flops and enjoy a summer morning on the Gustavus campus. Our Summer Snapshot visit events are designed to give you a "snapshot" of the overall Gustavus experience. You'll tour our excellent facilities and learn about the strength of our academic, athletic, and fine arts programs. You will also receive an introduction to our application and financial aid timelines.

Nobel Conference 49: The Universe at Its Limits

Tuesday or Wednesday, October 1 or 2, 2013

Juniors & seniors; family and friends

What's Distinctive?
The annual Nobel Conference at Gustavus links students with the world's foremost scholars and researchers in a debate centered on contemporary issues relating to the natural and social sciences.

Description
The Admission Office will provide complimentary tickets for prospective students and their guests to attend the Nobel Conference lectures. Before or after the lectures, you can tour campus and connect with an admission counselor. This year's Nobel theme is "The Universe at Its Limits" and will ask questions such as: What is the universe made of? Where did it come from? Where is it going? We will explore these questions in the light of recent discoveries and spend time contemplating both their scientific and their philosophical implications.

LEGACY Day

Saturday, October 12, 2013

Audience
Juniors & seniors who are siblings of current Gusties or are children or grandchildren of Gustavus alums; family and friends

What's Distinctive?
To recognize the special connection some families already have to Gustavus, this visit event is open to "legacies" only so these students can see how they can make their own traditions and create their own legacy at Gustavus.

Description
During Gustavus's annual "Family Weekend," this visit event offers siblings and children of alumni an opportunity to get an official tour and see the campus for themselves.

Schedule
Check-in will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a welcome presentation at 10:30 a.m. Student-led campus tours will leave at 11 a.m. and will bring families back in time for a complimentary lunch at noon. Afterwards, join in the many Family Weekend activities taking place on campus. If you would like to attend the football game against St. Thomas, complimentary tickets will be provided.

Music Showcase

What's Distinctive?
Highlighting the quality and heritage of our music programs, this visit event is for students who are considering being in a Gustavus ensemble-- whether or not they are considering being a music major.

Description
Hear Gustavus musicians in concert! In addition to hearing some great music, you can get a tour, meet the conductors, musicians, and music alumni.

You can arrive on campus as early as 11:00 a.m. to pick up your complimentary Jazz Brunch tickets in the Admission Office. A campus tour will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Please meet in the Admission Office on the upper level of the Jackson Campus Center if you would like to take part in the campus tour.

Explore Gustavus

What's Distinctive?
Explore Gustavus is a true open house--you can join us on campus whenever you like and depart when you need to. Sessions and activities are offered throughout each day.

Description
On either day of Explore Gustavus, you can attend general, financial aid, and academic information sessions; tour campus and residence halls; and connect with admission counselors, current students, and staff. Visitors are welcome to arrive anytime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. Explore all your options at Gustavus!

Christmas in Christ Chapel

Tickets available Friday evening, December 6 or Sunday evening, December 8, 2013

Audience
Seniors and juniors with music or worship interest; family

What's Distinctive?
Experience one of Gustavus' signature events which highlights our extraordinary music and worship opportunities.

Description
At the beginning of December, in the season of Advent, the Gustavus community prepares for Christmas by worshiping together in the annual Christmas in Christ Chapel program. Alumni, friends of the College, students, staff, and faculty gather at one of five services, with approximately 1,200 people attending each service. Over 350 students bring the program to life.

The Admission Office will provide two complimentary tickets (additional tickets may be purchased for $25.00) for prospective students and their guests to attend the Friday or Sunday evening service of Christmas in Christ Chapel. Before the event, you may be our guest for dinner in the Market Place and connect with an admission counselor.

Discover Gustavus

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 20, 2014

What's Distinctive?
Visiting Gustavus on MLK, Jr. Day highlights one of Gustavus' core values, justice, and reminds the Gustavus community and guests of the many layers of diversity and the opportunities such variety provides.

Description
You are invited to take your "first look" at Gustavus during the Discover Gustavus event. Designed as an introduction to the College for high school sophomores and juniors, this visit day includes campus tours, general and financial aid information sessions, and conversations with current Gusties.

Gustie for a Day

President's Day, Monday, February 17, 2014

Seniors only; family and friends

What's Distinctive?
Other than individual visits and the Experience Gustavus visit event, this is the only opportunity to sit in on actual Gustavus courses.

Description
Use your day off school to become a Gustie for a day: go to a class, hear from Gustavus students, learn about financial aid, investigate our Career Center, explore studying abroad, attend a rehearsal or practice, tour a residence hall, and more. Any member of the Gustavus community can be called a "Gustie," based on our athletic teams, the "Golden Gusties," and our mascot, Gus the Lion.

Gustavus Music Showcase

What's Distinctive?
One of our few off-campus events, you can see the Gustavus Choir, Gustavus Wind Orchestra, Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, and Gustavus Jazz Lab Band as they perform at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, Minnesota.

Experience Gustavus

Admitted seniors only; your family and friends

What's Distinctive?
During this event, you can visit with the staff and see the facilities of student resources like the Career Center, International Education Office, Residential Life Office, Health Services, and others. Also, you can attend actual Gustavus classes.

Description
Use this visit opportunity to further explore your new college home or have your remaining questions answered before making your college choice. In addition to sitting in on actual Gustavus courses, you'll attend informal open houses, participate in information sessions, and connect one-on-one with admission counselors.
