PSEO Admission

Admission

Gustavus welcomes well-qualified Minnesota PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Options) students to join this community and take available courses in person, on campus as they complete their high school degree. Please review this page carefully, then contact Alan Meier, Senior Associate Dean of Admission and PSEO Coordinator, with any questions.

Full-time Enrollment

Minnesota high school students wishing to apply for full-time student status at Gustavus for their senior year of high school under Minnesota’s PSEO program must apply for admission just as a high school senior would. Be sure to mark the ‘PSEO Student’ box next to the ‘I am applying to be a’ question on the Gustavus application. This full-time option is only available to Minnesota high school seniors, not juniors.

Full-time PSEO applications may be submitted as early as October or as late as May of a student’s junior year of high school. Admission decisions will be made in late spring -- likely May or June-- as soon as we have an idea of the size of our first-year class. Admission for full-time PSEO students is competitive. Successful applicants typically have a high school GPA of 3.8 or higher. Full-time PSEO applicants who intend to complete their degree at Gustavus will receive priority consideration for admission.

Space for full-time PSEO students is limited, and there are rare years when a large Gustavus first-year class means we are not able to admit any full-time PSEO applicants. However, typically we do have room for a few full-time PSEO students each year. Individuals attending as full-time PSEO students will be required to live in campus housing and pay for room and board. To request an appointment to speak about full-time PSEO registration, please contact the Admission Office at 507-933-7676.

Part-time Enrollment

Minnesota high school juniors and seniors interested in part-time enrollment through the PSEO program are required to bring a signed PSEO form from their high school and a current high school transcript to campus for one of our PSEO registration events, which take place in August and January. Part-time PSEO students should not apply for admission; attending a PSEO registration event will suffice. In order to have the opportunity to take a PSEO course at Gustavus, a student will typically have a high school GPA of 3.8 or higher.

Registration events for part-time PSEO students occur in mid-August for fall semester classes and mid-January for spring semester classes. Part-time PSEO students typically register for one course, but may register for two courses pending academic qualifications and approval from the PSEO coordinator. Space availability will determine which courses are open for PSEO enrollment. Part-time PSEO students may not register for closed or wait-list courses. To request an appointment to speak about part-time PSEO registration, please contact the Admission Office at 507-933-7676.
