Angela Erickson ’01
Alumni and Administrator
Admission Territories: Southwest Metro, Southwestern Minnesota, Southern California, New England
Born and raised in Glenwood, MN and a 2001 graduate of Gustavus, Angela has been passionately committed to higher education in the liberal arts tradition throughout her career. After graduation, she continued her education to pursue her dream of becoming a college professor and was fortunate to teach college-level Spanish at San Diego State University while enrolled as a graduate student. In 2004, she moved back to her native Minnesota and became a member of the faculty at the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University. While there, Angela realized that her passion for the liberal arts coupled with her strong commitment to student success and serving as an agent for change in higher education led her down a path to pursue a second advanced degree in administration, with the long-term goal of transitioning out of the classroom and becoming a college administrator. After over 13 years in the classroom and in hybrid faculty/administrative roles, she was presented with the opportunity to serve her alma mater in the office of admission. She had always hoped to return to Gustavus in order to give back to the place she feels is 'home' and that which contributed so significantly to her life and career.
As an admission counselor, Angela is incredibly excited to help educate students and families about the value of the Gustavus experience. She takes pride in working with students to navigate the college search process and assisting to discern what characteristics of a college are most important to them. She is happy to answer any questions about the admission process and looks forward to drawing upon her time spent as a professor to help students understand the impact that high quality academics, personal attention, invaluable resources and a well-rounded curriculum will have on their lives both throughout their college years and well beyond!
In her spare time, Angela enjoys spending time with her two children and family, playing tennis, skiing, gardening, watching sporting events, keeping current on news and politics, and staying involved in her community.
