Major: Intended Nursing Major
Graduation Year: 2022
Health Profession Area of Interest: Nursing
Favorite Part About Caring Hands:
"I love the conversations that I have with patients. Many of them are older than me and have so many wonderful stories to tell, and wisdom to impart. I have learned so much from the people that I get to talk to, and have grown a lot as a person with everything that I've learned from them."
Madi Sinclair (Volunteer 2019-2020)
Major: Psychological Science
Graduation Year: 2020
Health Profession Area of Interest: Pre-Medicine
Favorite Part About Caring Hands:
"My favorite part of the program is the patient interaction. While giving a hand massage may seem like an odd volunteer position, people tend to share their stories and become really open with you - it's a privilege to be able to make something negative a little bit better."
Jordyn Olson-Merrick (Volunteer 2019-2020)

How Caring Hands Has Helped Her Confirm Her Career Path:
“Caring hands has most definitely helped confirm my career path. Every week, I look forward to volunteering because of the connections it allows me to make with the patients. Caring hands has showed that whichever healthcare path I choose, patient interaction must play a major role in it.”
Gracelyn Skoog (Volunteer 2019-2020)
Major: Chemistry
Graduation Year: 2020
Health Profession Area of Interest: Dentistry
Favorite Part About Caring Hands:
"My favorite part of the program has been interacting with patients and getting to know the person who you’re providing the hand massage to. Every person has a different story and you can learn from their experiences."
Jada Nelsen (Volunteer 2019-2020)
Major: Biology
Graduation Year: 2021
Health Profession Area of Interest: Medicine
Favorite Part About Caring Hands:
"My favorite part of Caring Hands is the positive impact the program has on patients. The interaction is short, but the experience provides patients with a moment to escape their pain and relax with a gentle hand massage. I always watch their mood lift throughout the massage, and I am always amazed at how such a small gesture can have such a large outcome to the patient."
