Since 1965, the Nobel Conference has been bringing leading researchers and thinkers to Gustavus, to explore revolutionary, transformative and pressing scientific issues and the ethical questions that arise alongside them. As the only event in the United States authorized by the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden to use this name, it is our privilege to host a space in which we can talk about big scientific questions, and the big ethical issues to which they inevitably give rise.

Computer Science majors/minors think analytically and logically, design creative and robust solutions, develop teamwork, and explore new technologies. They solve problems using multiple programming languages and development platforms, preparing for careers in data, analysis, actuarial science, and master's degrees in computer science (MCS).

Environmental Studies majors/minors dig into the relationships between water, land, air, and life. You will think and create in multiple disciplines, learning about conservation, sustainability, and how to mitigate climate change. Gustavus MCS Department offers majors/minors in Math, Computer Science, and Statistics. Expect small classes, collaborative research, hands-on learning, and strong career prep.

Through the Gustavus Japanese Studies Department, students study the Japanese language, literature, history, politics, art, and religion. Plus, there's a required semester abroad in Japan, and faculty mentoring.
