Psychological Science

Psychological Science is foundational to tackling society’s big questions and challenges, from prejudice to multi-sensory perception and memory. As a Psychological Science major, you will be immersed in experiential learning courses that put science and research into practice. You will learn to test and interrogate psychological research questions, lead experiments, collect and analyze data, and present their findings.

Public Accounting

The Public Accounting major is designed for students to directly enter the workforce in private companies, non-profits, and government offices. You will learn essential technical accounting skills from a faculty of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) with decades of top industry experience. This program is a Top 20 program in the U.S. for CPA exam success, and the only Minnesota liberal arts college in the top 40. (CPA Success Index).

Public Health teaches you the concepts and principles related to the American public health system. Through active engagement in courses, you will complete opportunities and case studies in health behavior, community assessment, epidemiology, and program development related to a broad array of community issues, public health services, and populations.

As a minor in Russian Language, Literature, and Culture you will explore the language, rich cultural heritage, literature, and history of Russophone lands through the Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department (MLLC). Given Russia's strategic geopolitical importance, understanding the language and culture provides valuable insights.

Scandinavian Studies

Scandinavian Studies majors/minors journey to the Arctic Circle (particularly in Sweden), connect over "fika" (coffee and treats) at the Swedish House, and get to know award-winning artists and scholars from Scandinavia. In the Secondary Education major at Gustavus, you will choose from 17 teacher licensure programs. You will begin working in classrooms as soon as you start the program, and 90% of graduates are placed in teaching roles in middle schools, high schools, and other organizations across the country and the world.

Sociology and Anthropology majors/minors explore historic and current issues related to different cultures and analyze the interactions of people and societies. You learn how to convey ideas effectively, develop analytical skills, and gain experience with research methods to recognize trends and produce social statistics. Majors/minors in Sport Management learn the business of professional, international, collegiate, youth, and community sport while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the sport industry. The growth and importance of data requires qualified people to collect, analyze, summarize, interpret, and effectively use the data. Statistics majors/minors receive in-depth exposure to the theory, application, and tools of statistics to prepare them for a wide range of careers, including analytics and actuarial science. Theatre Design and Technology

As a Theatre Design and Technology major, you'll work on technique, practical application, and collaboration with actors and directors in multiple drama and musical productions. You'll explore theatre-making from different perspectives, through coursework and creative practice. Our spaces and stages (including a new black box theater) use the latest science and technology to design theatre.
