Phala Tracy

Adjunct Professor in Music and Music - Instrumental

Phala Tracy holds degrees in Harp Performance and Music History from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (BM 1999) and degrees in Harp Performance and Composition from the California Institute for the Arts (MFA 2003).  Her teachers include Alice Chalifoux, Yolanda Kondonasss, Judy Loman, Susan Allen, and Mary Kay Waddington (harp) and James Tenney (composition.)  In addition to teaching at Gustavus Adolphus College, she also teaches Suzuki Harp at the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis.  She is an active composer, arranger and teacher of theory and she is a frequent clinician at summer institutes and festivals across the country.  Phala has recorded a children’s’ CD of “Critter Songs” all about cats, fish, dogs, bugs, tree toads, fruit bats, imaginary lizards and a frig frog fairy dog wog!
