Johnathan MoellerFaculty
Johnathan Moeller is a graduate of McNally Smith College of Music where he studied and received a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance. He also holds a Master of Music degree from Minnesota State University Mankato where he graduated in the spring of 2009. He grew up on a farm in rural Parkers Prairie and started playing guitar at age 12. His first guitar lessons were with Jim Langman at Alexandria Music. He then studied with Gregg Buran until his graduation from P.P.H.S. in 2004. Johnathan also studied for a year with Tim Sparks in 2001 when he was awarded a mentor scholarship from the Lake Region Arts Council. During his time at McNally Smith he took private instruction from Clay Moore, Bobby Stanton, Andrès Prado, Michael Menard, and Paul Krueger. At MSU he studied classical guitar with James McGuire. In 2008 he received an award for Outstanding Soloist at the Eau Claire Jazz Festival and was the guitar instructor for the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival held at Gustavus Adolphus College. In 2009 he studied with Charlie Banacos. Johnathan has played in theatres, festivals, arenas, hotels, restaurants, fairs, recording studios, telethons, radio stations, parks, churches, parades, coffee shops, bars, ballrooms, gymnasiums, etc. He enjoys playing a wide repertoire of musical styles including classical, jazz, country, rock, funk, pop, etc. In addition to playing solo guitar and working with various musicians, Johnathan currently teaches at Gustavus Adolphus College, Bethany Lutheran College, and St. Olaf College.
