Gustie Entrepreneur Cup is a focal point of the effort to create a space at Gustavus where students can experiment with putting innovative ideas into action. Entrepreneurship requires critical thinking, promotes creativity and resilience, teaches how to deal with ambiguity, and allows students to learn what questions to ask and where to look for answers. We also believe that entrepreneurship is the perfect way of blending vocational preparation, service, and liberal arts education. Go Gusties!
Service Learning Trip Planned...The Diversity Education Exploration Project (D.E.E.P) is a student organization that promotes thematic cultural exploration, strategic service learning, and continuing education at regional graduate institutions. This year, D.E.E.P will be traveling to Charleston, S.C. and Savannah, GA over spring break to learn about the Gullah Geechee culture. On the trip, Gustavus students will participate in Gullah/Geechee Volunteer Month, helping with community service and transformational learning projects. The D.E.E.P trip will also visit Vanderbilt University to learn about options for post-graduate education. D.E.E.P students are currently collecting funds to support this exciting educational opportunity. To learn more about D.E.E.P, or donate funds, please visit: https://www.gofundme.com/fcrpa7bg.
It's that time of year again... Endowed Scholarship Thank-You Time! Please encourage students to complete their scholarship thank yous. If you could make an announcement in your classes, to your student employees, or to the student group you advise to encourage students to express their appreciation to those folks who continue to provide opportunities for Gusties. It is a quick and easy process, and is all online. Email links will be in their email inbox and the Thank-You Portal will be open until March 25, 2016. Questions can be directed to Maggie Hedlund Forster '09 or by calling 507-933-6513.
Changes to the Online Directory and Gustavus Google Calendar...As requested by the Dean of Student’s Office, the default student security settings for the online directory and Gustavus Google calendars have changed.
