These tools are not supported, but they are favorite tools that the GTS Staff love and use. The GTS staff may be able to offer assistance, however, primary support is usually found on the websites for these tools. Note: The expanations below are opinions of the GTS Staff.

Animoto

Free | Tool that allows you to create videos from templates that include themes and music. Upload your using photos and add some text and you are ready to go with a professional video! Videos under 30 seconds are free (you can pay extra to produce longer videos).

  • Pros: Easy to use and professional videos.
  • Cons: Cost per video for videos over 30 seconds in length.

Audacity

Free | Tool that allows you to record sound files, edit and convert them to MP3 files that students can downlaod and take with them.

  • Pros: Easy to use, no limit on length of recordings, and great quality.
  • Cons: Requires additional download to convert to MP3 files

Jing

Free | Tool that allows you to create screen captures / screencasts owned by Techsmith, maker of Snagit and Camtasia.

  • Pros: Easy to use, records screen and audio.
  • Cons: Videos are flash and may not play on some devices; only videos screen; 5 min max length; and can’t be uploaded to youtube.

Kahoot

Free | Tool that allows you to create questions that users respond to on any device, much like a game show. Can be used to check for understanding, quizzes or just for a fun way to review information.

  • Pros: Easy to use, engaging, and a great way to gauge understanding
  • Cons: Participants need a device with internet access.

Prezi

Free | Tool that allows you to create dynamic presentations, hold online meetings or presentations, and collaborate with creating presentations.

  • Pros: Easy to use, you can embed presentations on webpages or in Moodle, you can download presentations, and you can collaborate and have several people working on one prezi presentation.
  • Cons: Learning curve since it’s different than many presentation tools

ScreenPal

Free | Tool that allows you record your screen, audio and video (optional) for up to 15 min. For $20/year you can get the pro version which allows for unlimited timed recordings, editting capabilities, and automatic uploads to YouTube and other sites.

  • Pros: Easy to use, easy way to get information to people in a visual format, records screen, audio and video, pushes to YouTube, and file format is an MP4 which is playable on all devices
  • Cons: Editing (pro version) takes a bit of time and is not real simple, need up to date java applet installed

Free | Tool that allows you to do screen-recording in chrome. You can record your browser tab or your entire screen with one click of a button. For $24/year you an upgrade to the pro version which allows for unlimited timed recordings and editting capabilities.

  • Pros: Easy to use, easy way to get information to people in a visual format, records screen and audio, pushes the video to your Google Drive.
  • Cons: Only usable through Chrome and only cropping as an editing feature with the free version.
