Jason Haaheim ’01 will discuss how he has used the scientific method for his music career, his engineering career, and everything in between. Jason has been the principal timpanist for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 2013. He holds a bachelor of arts degree with a double major in honors-music-performance and physics from Gustavus.

This event will take place Sesquicentennial Plaza Amphitheater on the west side of Christ Chapel. If the weather is unfavorable we will use Christ Chapel as a rain site. Snacks and refreshments will be served.

The Gustavus Department of Music is proud to present the College's four touring ensembles for a performance in celebration of Family Weekend. The concert will feature performances by the Gustavus Wind Orchestra, Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, Gustavus Jazz Ensemble, and Gustavus Choir. 
 

 Enjoy a slower Sunday on campus by attending a morning worship service and afternoon musical showcase. 

Gustavus students, family, and friends are invited to attend this special Family Weekend worship service featuring musical selections from the Gustavus ensembles Christ Chapel Ringers, Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra, Jazz Lab Collective, and Gustavus Wind Symphony. Prelude music will begin at approximately 9:40 a.m. with the service starting at 10 a.m. 

The Gustavus Department of Music is proud to announce the 2026 Gustavus High School Honor Band Festival, bringing together students from around Minnesota and the Midwest for a full day of music performance. This festival will feature faculty-led masterclasses, rehearsals, chances to rehearse alongside Gustavus music students, and an evening performance in Gustavus's magnificent Christ Chapel. Join the Gustavus Wind Orchestra and the Wind Symphony, conducted by John Clemons, as they present their fall concert.
 

Join the Gustavus Jazz Ensemble and the Jazz Lab Collective as they present their fall jazz showcase. The concert will feature a variety of jazz charts including some well-known standards and newer contemporary pieces.
