Anderson Hall Education Room Reservation Policy

Anderson Hall serves to meet the needs of academic programming and curricular endeavors primarily for Education majors. The spaces for student break-out and group interactions were designed to meet the needs of the engaged learning philosophy of the Education Department. To that end, classrooms and all interaction spaces will not be available for use during class time, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Reservation requests before 4:00 p.m. will not be approved for the Atrium because such requests interfere with the academic environment. While building reservations are possible, priority will be given to organizations/events that directly support the academic mission.

All atrium requests must be approved by the Education Department. Requests for large groups, dinner meetings or other activities will be vetted by the Anderson Committee. Please note that any use of the Atrium space prohibits hanging anything on the walls and any set up of tables and chairs or exhibits, etc., are the responsibility of the person or group making the reservation. The Education Department and the College are not responsible for any damaged, lost or stolen articles, work or equipment displayed in the atrium.

Student organizations with reservations may be required to relocate if a faculty member requires the space for an academic function. In the event this relocation is necessary, notifications will be made as soon as possible.

All furniture must be returned to its original location after use. Not all classrooms are able to be reserved. If food is going to be served, please state this in the request for the reservation, and all food waste must be cleared. Groups not adhering to Anderson Hall policies will be barred from future Anderson reservations.

Please indicate the specifics of your event in the additional comments box. (What activities will take place? Will food be served? How long do you want the exhibit to be on display, etc.)

There are costs associated with reservations of the Atrium in Anderson Hall. After a reservation has been approved, the group/organization hosting the event will need to contact the following departments:

  • Physical Plant charges for clearing the space of its furniture and the set-up of any tables and chairs. To protect the furniture and floor, furniture moving is forbidden by anyone but Physical Plant employees. Contact Julie Anderson at 933-7504.
  • Food and beverage for functions must be coordinated through Dining Service. Contact Margi Willmert at mwillmer@gustavus.edu or x6245.
  • Custodial Services must be contacted with at least two weeks notice and will need to know if food will be served. There may be a surcharge for custodial services when food is served. Custodial contact person is Karen Kepka at kkepka@gustavus.edu or 933-7655.

Questions reagarding reservations of education spaces and classrooms should be emailed to EDUreservations@gustavus.edu. Summer reservations from June 1 through mid-August should be directed to Margi Willmert, mwillmer@gustavus.edu or x6245.
