Traditions

Two traditions co-exectives are responsible for working with a co-executive to produce signature events, including Homecoming, Presidents Ball (P-Ball), and Spring Midnight Express.

Previous Homecoming Themes: Ignite the Night, Gold & Black, Take Me Back, Gusties Will Reign, Treasure the Golden Days, and Going for the Gold.

Presidents Ball: Each year during the spring semester the Campus Activities Board hosts a (semi) formal for students and the president's cabinet. Presidents ball, or renamed P-Ball by the student body, is a time for the student body to celebrate the accomplishments of the year and spend time with fellow gusties. Previous P-Ball themes include Masquerade, Casino Night, Luminescent, and A Grand Affair. Previous Venues include the InterContinental Hotel in St. Paul and the Verizon Center in Mankato.

Spring Midnight Express: Midnight express is a time to celebrate the semester, typically 10-12 p.m. on the last day of spring semester classes. Professors and other staff and faculty come to hand out food for the students. The Gustavus catering service caters for the event. Plenty of other snacks are also available. The Jazz club also traditionally performs while students converse and celebrate.
