Check in and Move into your Residence Hall, Information Desk, Lower Level of Jackson Campus Center
Please check in at the Jackson Campus Center Information Desk on the lower level of the Jackson Campus Center. Meet your Transfer Student Gustie Greeter and pick up your room key, a folder containing your academic advising session, and your Transfer Student Orientation schedule.

If you don’t yet have your student I.D., go to the Campus Safety Office to take care of this necessary item. They will take your picture and get you your student ID card. You’ll need it for meals and access to your dorm building beginning today!

Meet at the information desk to introduce yourself to fellow transfer students and your transfer orientation leader. Then, head upstairs and enjoy a meal with your peers!

Connect with the other transfer students and meet your Gustie Greeter to get more acquainted with campus life. This session is designed to give you an overview of Transfer Student Orientation and ‘need to know information’.

Join the Transfer Gustie Greeters as they take you around campus and show you some of the major study spots, campus resources, and campus buildings.

Meet up with some of the Gustie Greeters for a relaxed run through and around campus. The Greeters will show you some of the running routes that our students run. The route will be through the Arboretum, around campus using Jefferson Street, Broadway Ave, and Sunrise Ave. The run will be no longer than 3 miles and will be at a relaxed pace.

Walk and Talk, Meet at Three Flags (Optional)
Meet up with some Gustie Greeters for a casual walk through and around campus. The route will be through the Arboretum and around campus.

Transfer students and Greeters will eat together to discuss the agenda for the day and upcoming events following the first day of class.

Transfer Student Group Meeting, Beck 101, Beck Academic Hall
Meet with your Gustie Greeter and Fellow Transfer Students to walk through information and resources that are specific to Gustavus. This time is helpful to get questions answered and meet other students.

The transfer Greeters will take you to each of your classroom buildings/classrooms. Remember your class schedule.

Join the Transfer Gustie Greeters and other incoming transfer students for lunch. This is a great opportunity to meet and connect with others and become acquainted with the MarketPlace.

Say What?! is a social justice initiative built to provide new students with a forum to discuss the transition to college as it relates to social issues and pluralism. Catharsis Productions uses humor, interactive talk, and exercises to create an impactful and meaningful learning environment.

Come socialize with students from a variety of backgrounds and learn about their involvements at Gustavus and how you can get connected. Attending this social is not a commitment to join Greek Life, but it is a great way to see all the opportunities Gustavus offers to get involved.

Meet with advising staff from the Academic Support Center to get answers to frequently asked transfer advising questions, including how advising at Gustavus is similar to or different from your previous institution. Learn how to use MyGustavus to view your degree audit and see how your classes transferred to Gustavus. Discuss a plan for connecting soon with your faculty advisor to either confirm or change your class schedule. Ask about referrals to departments and get answers to last-minute academic questions before classes begin.

An upper-class student panel of high achievers in the classroom will share tips and answer questions on how they maintain their commendable GPAs, balance schoolwork, and personal life, and survive their transition to college-level academics. - Option 2: Writing Your Way to Success, President’s Dining Room, Upper Level of Jackson Campus Center
Writing papers can be difficult and frustrating for many students throughout their college careers. The Writing Center is here to help. Meet the writing tutors, learn how to make appointments, and play games that will help you know what to expect for collegiate writing. - Option 3: Time Management, Konferensrum, Upper Level of Jackson Campus Center
Whether you’re on a team, joining a student organization, playing in the band, finding time to study for classes, or all of these plus some, time management is an essential part of learning in college. Are you nervous about starting class tomorrow? Looking for some tips on meeting your professors' expectations? This session is designed to support you with your academic transition to Gustavus and to familiarize you with the academic resources available to you. This session will be led by a Senior student who transferred to Gustavus her sophomore year.

Kicking off the year with an orientation to student employment. During this time you will learn what it means to be a student employee at Gustavus, pick up your name badge, connect with your supervisor to receive job-specific training information and have time to ask any remaining questions about your work placement. Pick one session and plan to spend the full hour.
