The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Lecture... The annual lecture at Gustavus will be on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 10-11:30 a.m. in Christ Chapel. This year’s lecture, provided by the Donzaleigh Abernathy, will feature her personal reflections on watching the civil rights movement unfold and the ongoing work for justice. Donzaleigh Abernathy is the youngest daughter of the American Civil Rights Movement co-founder Rev. Dr. Ralph Abernathy. She was born in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement as her father and his best friend, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. established the nonviolent social movement which changed the course of American History.

Employee Investment Education... As part of its educational mission, the E. Terry Skone Investment Club invites faculty and staff to informal outreach events in January. Students will offer two interactive sessions about market fundamentals, with small group discussions.

Events will be held on Wednesday, January 15 from 5-6 p.m. and Thursday January 16 from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., both at the Melva Lind Interpretive Center. Refreshments will be served!

Topics will include:
• What is the “market” and how do I invest there?
• What’s a “bear” market and a “bull” market and why do they matter?
• What makes a good mix of investments and how do I choose?

Our goal is to provide information in a relaxed environment that welcomes conversation about how the market works.

Not required, but helpful: please RSVP to IC-officers@gustavus.edu for catering. Please email Kathy Lund Dean (lunddean@gustavus.edu) with any questions.

Call for Submissions - Lindell Research Paper Award 2020...The Library is now accepting submissions for the Patricia Lindell Research Prize/Paper. This $400 prize is awarded by the library faculty for a paper already written for a Gustavus academic course. This paper should demonstrate excellent use of source material. Papers may be submitted from Fall Semester 2018 through Spring Semester 2020. As faculty endorsement is required, please encourage eligible students to submit their work. More information about the prize and the nomination process can be found online.

Campaign Letterhead and Logos... On September 27, 2019 we kicked off our Show the World comprehensive campaign for the College. In recognition of this campaign, we’ve developed a special word mark (logo) to be used through October of 2021. That means the College website, letterhead, and print materials will reflect this logo. We need your help to transition to the campaign materials.

So, please put away the usual Gustavus letterhead and envelopes for the next 22 months. Stop by Printing Services for a supply of the new letterhead and envelopes and start using it January 1, 2020. The Show the World campaign images are also available to the campus online (must be signed in to your Gustavus account to access).

If you have questions on the use of these materials, please consult with the Office of Marketing and Communication.

Saint Peter Weekly Newsletter...As we continue to find ways to strengthen our partnership with the City of Saint Peter we would like to share this link to their weekly newsletter. Be sure to read it for the latest information about the greater Saint Peter community.

Youth Winter Sporting Equipment... Are you looking for any youth-sized winter sporting equipment? We have a starter downhill ski set (skis and boots), youth starter cross country ski set (skis, poles, boots) and a downhill ski harness (for helping you guide a new youth skier down the slope). We sorted through our winter sports gear and have these for sale. The boots will likely fit a child wearing shoes sizes 11-13. Our kids have used these in grades K-3. Contact Heather (hhaemig@gustavus.edu) for more info and pricing.
