New this year is that the opening night will be on Thursday and the last service will be on Sunday afternoon. Like last year, guests will select specific reservable seats in Christ Chapel at the time of ticket purchase. There will no longer be general admission seating. Employees and students will continue to receive one free ticket. Tickets are on sale now and going fast! For more information, visit the Christmas in Christ Chapel website.

A Royal Affair - Almost Sold Out ...This is your last chance to get tickets for the biennial A Royal Affair fundraiser happening Saturday, November 9 at the JW Marriott Hotel - Mall of America. Funds raised will fund scholarships for first-generation college students with high academic performance and significant economic need, and strengthen the Gustavus library endowment. Get a special employee ticket price of $75 by calling Cassandra at 933-7577. For more information on the event visit A Royal Affair.

Public Talk by Eban Goodstein... Eban Goodstein, PhD, will give a free, public talk tonight. The lecture, "How to Solve Climate by 2030: We CAN Change the FUTURE," will take place at 6 p.m. in Beck 101.

Patricia Lindell Scholarship Application Open...This $1,200 scholarship (established by the Gustavus Library Associates) is open to any junior or senior student to undertake a research project for the library that benefits the wider Gustavus community. The scholarship is awarded upon the successful completion of the project.
Applicants are strongly recommended to apply for independent study credit during the spring semester (up to .5 credits).
This year's project will explore how the library can improve its website to better serve student needs. The recipient will conduct qualitative research, investigate best practices for library websites, and propose changes to the website.
For more information and how to apply, please see attached pdf.
Applications are due Friday, November 1, 2019.

Looking for something to do during Spring Break?...The Community Engagement Center is looking for Gustavus faculty and staff to be trip advisers for upcoming Habitat for Humanity volunteer trips during spring break (April 4-11). This is an exceptional way for employees to grow in community engagement, professional development, and to get to know a fantastic group of students. Trip adviser guidelines are posted on the Community Engagement website. There is no cost to participate and all employees are eligible (see guidelines for approvals needed). Applications are available here: Spring Break Trip Adviser Application (and on the CEC website) and must be submitted by November 8, 2019. Community Engagement Center staff and campus Habitat for Humanity board representatives will review applications and select the individuals who meet the selection criteria. Please contact Amy Pehrson (x6011) with questions or more information about this program.

Professional Clothing Drive Thank You...ThriftyGold, a student organization focused on raising awareness of how lifestyle choices relate to sustainability, along with the Center for Career Development and the Gustavus Costume Shop, thank all those who donated professional clothing for the first Professional Dress Clothing Drive. 120 students in attendance got a start on their professional wardrobes, were fitted for online purchases, received discounts from local retailers, and learned more about expectations for attire in the workplace. The success of the event would not have been possible without a wide selection of gently-used clothing, and students expressed consistent praise and gratitude for those who gave generously.

Saint Peter Weekly Newsletter...As we continue to find ways to strengthen our partnership with the City of Saint Peter we would like to share this link to their weekly newsletter. Be sure to read it for the latest information about the greater Saint Peter community.
