Teachers Talking Technology - Going public: student contributions to Wikipedia

Monday, January 24, 2011 (Around 4 years ago)

Our students seek quickly-accessible sources of information. It is critical that our students and the public have access to accurate and engaging sources on biological topics. Because of this need we developed two projects requiring students to communicate topics related to plant or insect biology using Wikipedia. As a result of these projects, students realized how poorly some topics were covered, composed and posted new entries, and expressed pride in their final products — because they were in the public domain. Program runs at 11:30 and at 12:30 pm. Free lunch at Three Crowns buffet, then meet in Heritage Room.
