The Challenge Seminar is a capstone experience of the Gustavus Challenge Curriculum.

CHAL Requirement

In their junior or senior year, Gustavus students enroll in one 200-level CHAL course. In rare instances, some sophomore students may also enroll in a CHAL course.

CHAL Mission and Learning Outcomes

The CHAL is a small, interdisciplinary course. CHAL provides an excellent bookend to the First Term Seminar (FTS) by engaging in personal reflection, critical thinking, writing, and speaking as they approach the conclusion of their college experience.

CHAL courses may carry area designations, such as WRITL, Global Affairs and Cultures, U.S. ID, Wellbeing, or Quant. CHAL learning outcomes can be found at: https://gustavus.edu/challenge/learning-outcomes.php#CHAL
