This placement exam assists us in meeting the class needs in the chemistry tracks during the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

CHE-105 / CHE-106 Foundations of Chemistry I lecture/lab + CHE-107 / CHE-108 Foundations of Chemistry II lecture/lab:

The combination of the CHE-105 lecture and CHE-106 lab (formerly CHE-106) (offered in Fall 2024 only) together with the CHE-107 lecture and CHE-108 lab (formerly CHE-108 J-term Chemical Thermodynamics and Equilibrium) (offered in Spring 2025 only) cover the same content as CHE-110/111 (formerly CHE-107). This alternative track is offered in order to better support students with varying levels of preparation and reasons for taking chemistry.

CHE-110 General Chemistry:

CHE-110 lecture / CHE-111 lab (formerly CHE-107)(will be offered in Fall 2024 only) will provide a basic understanding of key chemistry principles and aims to prepare students for upper-level chemistry and biology coursework.

Your performance on the placement exam or your answers to any questions will in no way limit your ability to register for general chemistry or to complete any major degree program, nor will it impact your course grade.
