  • Study Away Many programs are available that provide immersive experiences in various African countries or communities with significant African diaspora populations. Common locations for Gustavus students include Tanzania, the Caribbean, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa, and Senegal. You can deepen your understanding through the experience of studying away and earn credit toward the minor.

  • Pan African Student Organization (PASO) The Gustavus Pan African Student Organization promotes the cultures of the African continents and the African diaspora. PASO organizes events and learning opportunities on campus. Africa Night is the signature event, showcasing student and faculty performances that reflect the diverse cultures and talents of Africa and the African diaspora. Getting involved with PASO can provide opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals and participate in meaningful cultural activities.

  • Campus Speakers and Events The African/African Diaspora Studies Program promotes and hosts guest speakers, artists, writers, and performers throughout the year.
